Australia + NZ part 2

List of PMs

Same as Australia, except:

Frank Forde and Ben Chifley replaced with Peter Fraser

Malcolm Fraser is totally replaced by Robert Muldoon

Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull replaced with John Key
(who will resign in late 2018 after being party leader for 10 years)

Next I will look into elections and see if NZ being part of Australia would have changed any federal election results (spoiler: the answer is yes, I know even not having looked yet, if it is somehow no I'll be shocked)

Also FTR, NZ's Parliament would have served as it's State Legislature.

It would have been reduced to 60 members after joining Australia, and would have had 79 members in 1993. It would have transitioned to AV along with the rest of Australian states, but, would have switched to Proportional Representation as it did IRL; but with 100 not 120 MPs. It also would have Maori seats as it does now.

Time Dilation

Time Dilation, Lorentz contraction, Lorentz factor, velocity, speed of light - all that fun stuff

If you travel at
70.71067811865475 % the speed of light
or
0.7071067811865475 as a factor of C

you, if on the ship, would travel 1 light year in, what appears for you, to be 1 year.

In short: this is the magic number for time dilation, lorentz whatever, and so forth. In short; that's a good speed to travel at.

The dilation you'd experience is 41.42135623730948% meaning that a 10 year journey (from your perspective, on the ship) would take (from the perspective of people on earth) 14.142135623730948 years. That's roughly 4 years and 52 days longer than 10 years.

While that is a long time, it is not something that would destroy a person. A "career" on a space ship might see you travelling at these speeds for 21 years, which would only be 30 years. This means your twin would be 59 when you are 50, and while that's unusual, it is not as bad as it could be if your twin was 59 when you are 21.

religion

On Monday a man decides that he feels an emptiness in his heart and that it's about time to go find a religion. He decides that he will go to various religious temples in the city and see what is the right religion for him.

On Tuesday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry so he stops and gets a bacon double cheeseburger. He then heads to the local mosque; but the imam tells him "I'm sorry, if you are a muslim you can't eat bacon, it is haram" so the man sighs and say "ah, then maybe this is not the religion for me"

On Wednesday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry so he stops and gets a double cheeseburger, remembering what happened yesterday. He then heads to the local synagogue; but the rabbi tells him "I'm sorry, if you are a jew you can't eat cheese and beef together, it is not kosher to mix two parts of the same animal" so the man sighs and say "ah, then maybe this is not the religion for me"

On Thursday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry so he stops and gets a double hamburger, remembering what happened yesterday. He then heads to the local temple; but the swami tells him "I'm sorry, if you are a hindu you can not eat beef as we consider cows to be holy" so the man sighs and say "ah, then maybe this is not the religion for me"

On Friday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry so he stops and gets a chicken burger, remembering what happened yesterday. He then heads to the local church; but the priest tells him "I'm sorry, if you are a catholic you can not eat chicken today as it is good friday" so the man sighs and say "ah, then maybe this is not the religion for me"

On Saturday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry but remembers all the problems he's had over the past week, and just gets a coffee. He then heads to another local church; but the minister tells him "I'm sorry, if you are a mormon you can not drink coffee as it has caffeine and this is not permitted" so the man sighs and say "ah, then maybe this is not the religion for me"

On Sunday he sets off. On his walk he gets hungry but decides enough is enough and buys nothing. He then heads to a local temple; but nobody greets him, he is met with silence. He waits a minute, then says "hello?" before the entire buddhist congregation yells back "SHUT UP WE ARE MEDITATING"!
